Sewing Kit in a Jar

We're deviating a little from the list of crafts. This Monday we're making a sewing kit with a pin cushion on top! Here are the supplies you need:
  1. Mason or canning Jar with sealer and lid.
  2. Scrap fabric big enough to trace two inches around the lid plus one time around the lid.
  3. Batting, fiberfill, or cotton balls.
  4. Thin, sturdy cardboard
If you would like to make something other than a sewing kit, just comment/text/call/email/facebook me and I will be happy to give you another supply list that still involves a canning jar. So many things you can do with a canning jar:)

The passage we will study is found in Mark 4:35-41.
Jesus Calms the Storm
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

See you gals on Monday!

Sneak Peek

I figured I'd roll out some samples of what we'll make in our group. These are in no particular order as I'll have to be strategic in which crafts to do first so we'll all have enough time to collect and find materials. A schedule will be coming soon!

1. Etched Map Glass Tray via Design*Sponge
2. Tin Can Pin Cushion via Design*Sponge
3. Storybook Paper Roses via 100 Layer Cake
4. Egg Carton Lights via Espirit Cabane
5. Repurposed Leather Bracelet via At Second Street
6. Pompom Gift Topper via Curbly
7. T-shirt Rolled Rosettes Pillow via Craft Goodies
8. Decoupage Shoes via Copy Cat Crafts
9. Toilet Paper Roll Wall Art via Design*Sponge

So start collecting toilet paper rolls, a tin can, an old book, a wooden picture frame with glass, an egg carton, target bag, leather purse, white t-shirts, and old flats or pumps. And again, you don't have to do any of the crafts to join the group.

The Low Down on Repurposed

What could be better than a small group full of North Creek ladies? A small group that CRAFTS together!

I'd love to share with you some of my favorite crafts which involve repurposing old, useless junk into beautiful, useful items. I'll be posting the items needed a week in advance. You are not required to do the crafts to be a part of the group. For the first craft, you will not need any supplies.

In addition to the craft, we will be digging into the Bible. Our lives can become a beautiful mess. At times, it can be more messy than beautiful, more painful than wonderful, more confusing than clear, and more ordinary than extraordinary. Yet we do not lose hope, for God has written his beautiful purposes all over our souls and works on us to make us more like Jesus.

Looking forward to growing together with you ladies and hearing your stories as well!
